Craps are just a simple pair of dice, with a world
of betting possibilities. Now, there are a few new terms to memorize,
and some basic rules to learn, but it sure worth it, it is lots
of fun.
The dealer is called box man,
the person whom it is his/hers turn to roll the dice is called the
shooter.
The first roll of the dices in a round is called the
come out roll.
There are many kinds of bets, which differ from each
other slightly And each is printed on the table, for you to place
your bet on. For a start we will concentrate on the basic, and most
simple bet: a Pass Line bet.
Basic rules
We start at the come out roll,
(the first toss in a round), if the shooter rolls a 7
or 11, it is a 1:1 win, and
the round is over, and the (same) shooter makes a new come our roll.
If the shooter rolls a 2, 3
or 12, it’s a loss, and again
the round is over.
Any other number, that is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is set
as the Point.
While making come out rolls, you see a small black
circle with the word “off” written in the middle. When the point
is set, the circle is placed on the number of the point that is
printed on the table, but now its color turns white and in the middle
appears the word “on”.
Once the point is set, and the white “on” puck is
marking it, the target is to keep rolling the dice till the point
repeats itself, or till the shooter rolls a 7.
The 7 that is rolled not during a come out roll is
called an out 7.
If the point repeats
itself, the shooter wins and the round
is over.
If the shooter rolled an out
7, shooter looses, and the round
is over.
Any other number rolls, just keep on shooting.
Placing the bet:

(this is a partial view of the craps
table which contains the bets covered here, the rest is covered in
Risky Bets)
Bets that are placed before
making a come out roll :
Pass line bet
As we mentioned earlier it is the most common bet.
It is placed prior to the come out roll by placing the chips (or
actually clicking on) the pass line bar printed on the table.
The bet is on the chance that the point will repeat
itself before rolling an out 7. Win odds are 1:1
Once the point is set, you can’t remove or reduce
a pass bet, you have to stay till the round is over, either by a
roll of the point or an out 7.
You win 1:1 when:
- During come out roll, shooter tosses
7 or 11.
- After the point is set, it repeats
itself.
-
You loose when:
-
During come out roll,
shooter tosses 2, 3 or 12.
-
After the point is
set, shooter rolls an out 7.
Don’t pass line bet
This bet is the opposite of the pass line bet above. It’s
placed before the come out roll, on the “don’t pass bar” that is
printed on the table. Pays even money.Unlike pass bets, you can
remove or reduce your don’t pass bets from the table by right clicking
on it.
You win 1:1 when:
- During come out roll, shooter tosses
2 or 3.
- After the point is set, shooter
rolls an out 7.
You loose when:
-
During come out roll,
shooter tosses 7 or 11.
-
After the point is
set, it repeats itself.
You push when:
- During come out roll, shooter tosses
12.(a push is a draw. Player gets
his/hers money back)
Bets that are placed after
making a come out roll :
Come bets
This bet is very similar to a pass line bet, except it
is placed after the come out roll is over. So if you came in late,
there is still room for you.
The bet is placed on the COME bar printed on the table
Rules are alike: 7 or 11 wins. 2, 3 or 12 looses.
Any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) becomes the come
point and the box man will move the come bet from the COME
bar and place it on the number equal to the come point, that is
printed on the table.
Once the come point is set, you can’t remove or reduce
a pass bet, you have to stay till the round is over, either by a
roll of the come point or an out 7.
You win 1:1 when:
- Before the come point is set, shooter
tosses 7 or 11.
- After the come point is set, shooter
repeats it.
You loose when:
-
Before the come point
is set, shooter tosses 2, 3 or 12.
-
After the come point
is set, shooter rolls an out 7.
Don’t Come bets
The opposite of a come bet. All procedures are same
as come bet except you place the bet on the DON’T COME bar.
You may not remove or reduce the bet till an out 7
or the come point is rolled. But, if the original point is rolled
(thus, ending the round) you may remove your bet.
You win 1:1 when:
-
Before the come point
is set, shooter tosses 2 or 3.
-
After the come point
is set, shooter rolls an out 7.
You loose when:
-
Before the come point
is set, shooter tosses 7 or 11.
-
After the come point
is set, shooter repeats it.
You push when:
